Why Grass-Fed Tallow Is the Queen of Skincare Fats

When our first baby got diaper rash, we tried all the typical things, lotions, diaper creams, etc. Nothing seemed to really make a difference. Then one day, standing in our kitchen in Tyler, Texas, we rendered our first batch of grass-fed tallow. The smell was earthy. The texture? Smooth, creamy, rich.
We infused that batch with lavender flower and rubbed it on our baby’s cheeks. And by the next day, we knew—we’d found what modern skincare had lost.
What Is Grass-Fed Tallow? Tallow is simply rendered beef fat—but not just any fat. We only use Kidney, Heart, and Pelvic fat from grass-fed, pasture-raised cows, which is richer in nutrients and free from the junk that ends up in factory-farmed products.
It’s shelf-stable, naturally antibacterial, and absorbs into skin like it was meant to be there. Because in a way—it is.
Why Tallow for Skin? Human skin produces sebum—a protective oil blend. Tallow mirrors its structure more closely than any plant oil. Tallow contains:
Stearic & oleic acid – found in your own skin barrier
Vitamins A, D, E, K – healing, anti-inflammatory, regenerative
Squalene – a compound also in human skin oils
No filler oils. No preservatives. Just nourishing fat that your skin recognizes.
The Sensory DifferenceWhen you first touch our Whipped Tallow, it feels light and fluffy, but melts instantly on contact. It smells like clean earth, and lightly of fresh lavender flowers (or nothing at all, in our original version). It doesn’t sit on top of your skin—it becomes part of it.
Why Grass-Fed MattersCows raised on pasture have fat that’s higher in CLA, vitamin K2, and other skin-loving nutrients. This is why we source local, small-farm tallow—and why the color, texture, and richness of our balm is different from anything store-bought.
We Didn’t Set Out to Sell It We made it for ourselves. For our kids. For dry hands, for growing bellies, for postpartum skin, for real life. Then friends started asking. Then neighbors. Now it’s the heart of our skincare line.
